My History
I was Born in Menorca, and my name is Bartomeu Gomila Sintes I was first brought into contact with watches when I was seven, I was ill in bed and my grandmother gave me an old broken alarm clock to entertain me. This odd mechanism would shape my life, since a growing interest for watchmaking mechanisms was born with it. During my teenage summer holidays, I worked in a jeweller's shop to finance my first motorcycle. There I knew I wanted to devote my career to watchmaking.
Therefore, I studdied micromechanics in Verge de la Mercé in Barcelona (1995), combining these studies with various jobs, the last one in Roca jewellery, where I would go on after finishing my degree as a Rolex after-sales service employee (1999).
I also worked for the Richemont group technical service, but I needed something else, so I decided to put my faith in my dream, watchmaking and restoration, so I enrolled in the Restoration and Complicated Watches Course in the WOSTEP Foundation School in Switzerland, a postgraduate course for watchmakers working in restoration of the highest quality antique watches.
Another opportunity came up from that, as I was offered to develope the first mechanical watch that mesures thousandths of a second, with the "TIMEWRITER TWO" project, developed in cooperation with the "Institute de recherche d'haute horlogerie Minerva".
I now have my own workshop "Taller del Temps" in Alaior, Menorca. from here i provide a service to clients around the locally and around the world,
My expertise is to restore valuable time pieces of any age, and i have the ability to manufacture parts to a very high precision for watches that no longer have spare parts available.

My Philosophy
There are some who work for a living, others who live for working, and others like me who simply LOVE's his job, that is why I chose to return to live and work in the tranquility and beauty of the island with it's relaxed speed of life gives me a great pleasure to relax and truly enjoy my free time.

The mechanical complexity of the repairs thrills El Cronometrista These little marvels require particularly sensitive repairs, as they have avery definite style depending on when they were made and this style must always be respected for proper restoration. The mechanical complexity of many of these watches, like repeaters, perpetual calendars, etc., gives me a thrill. El Cronometrista is a specialist in chronometer escapements, such as Duplex, Virgule, Cylinder, Swiss lever, unusual escapements and other rarities.
Singing Bird Boxes
From replacing the feathers or the leather or valves of bellows, to making any defective part. Singing bird boxes, pocket watches and chronometers are my speciality and I have devoted by working life and career to them. Feeling the satisfaction of making a high-quality machine work perfectly again after being damaged or broken is my reward and a stimulus to tackle new, complex reconstruction projects. I have never been scared by mechanical complexity; instead, I am fascinated by discovering new complexities and solutions for what was made with much less advanced technology and I ask myself how the great masters would do it today..
